We returned over $2.4 million in capital credits to our members this October! Members who received a capital credit allocation for 2008 and 2009 received either a check or a bill credit on their October statement.
As a member-owned cooperative, Salem Electric exists to serve you, not to make a profit. When our revenues exceed the costs of providing electricity, we give back to those who matter most—our members. Your capital credit refund reflects your share of the cooperative’s success, based on how much electricity you used during those specific years.
During the time between when capital credits are accrued and returned to members, these funds are put to work. They help support essential projects like infrastructure maintenance, provide working capital, and fund other initiatives that strengthen our ability to serve our members.
Thank you for being such an important part of Salem Electric.
