Board Information
Wildfire Mitigation Plan: The Board approved Salem Electric's Wildfire Mitigation Plan which is reviewed each June. It will be filed with the Oregon Public Utility Commission.
Prepaid Billing: The Board approved implementing a prepaid billing option for members. It was one of the initiatives in the Board’s 2021 strategic plan, and after investigation and testing, a small pilot project was implemented at the first of the year. This new billing option will allow members to pay for electricity the way they pay for gasoline or a prepaid phone card. They can track their daily usage, avoid security deposits and late fees, and make payments when it fits their budget.
Yearly Policy Review: The Board reviewed and reaffirmed its Conflict of Interest and Code of Ethics policy.
General Manager’s Report
Tony Schacher provided an update on Bonneville Power Administrations' expected rate increase. The final record of decision will be available at the end of July. At that time Salem Electric will learn how wholesale rates will be impacted. The Salem Electric Board Rate Committee will review the financial needs of the cooperative and provide a recommendation to the full Board at a later date.
