401(k) Resolution: As the next step in transferring employee retirement plans to a new plan administrator, the Board approved a resolution removing the current plan administrator.
Washington D.C. Youth Tour: Sydney Moneke, Salem Electric’s 2024 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour delegate, shared her experience from her trip in June. She was pleased that Washington D.C. is so accessible to the public and really enjoyed her visit to Capitol Hill. The etchings on the Vietnam Memorial were especially thought provoking, and when seeing her reflection in the etched granite wall, she could imagine what it would be like to serve her country.
General Manager’s Report
Tony Schacher reported that the preliminary 2025 budget is under review by department managers and will be presented to the Board Rates and Finance Committee and later to the full Board of Directors. In community outreach, approximately 500 children and parents learned about electrical safety by watching our Powertown demonstration at the Family Building Blocks’ Family Fest event at Riverfront Park. The Powering Oregon license plate project, coordinated by Midstate Electric, is guaranteeing the required number of vehicles before the State of Oregon begins production. All proceeds will go to the Legacy OregonBurn Center.
