Ted Case, Executive Director of the Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association, summarized Oregon’s 2022 legislative session, discussed the upcoming election cycle, and noted that Salem Electric is the only electric cooperative in the new congressional district. Case noted that more than a dozen Oregon high school juniors and seniors will tour Washington, D.C. in June as part of the NRECA/ORECA Youth Tour. 

Salem Electric is pleased to announce that Isaac McDonald, a junior at West Salem High School, was selected as Salem Electric’s 2022 NRECA Youth Tour delegate. 

General Manager's Report

COVID Update: Based on guidance from the State of Oregon, masks are optional for employees and the Salem Electric lobby is now open to the public.

Bonneville Power Administration (BPA): In preparation for post-2028 when the contract with BPA ends, the Northwest Requirements Utilities held an informational meeting to review their position paper that they will present to Bonneville. Regional associations are working together to evaluate impacts and address the needs of various entities.

Infrastructure Grants: The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association set up a portal for electric cooperatives to track infrastructure projects that could potentially benefit cooperatives.
