We trim trees near overhead lines, inspect equipment regularly, and replace aging or failing equipment before issues arise. Despite our best efforts, an outage can still occur without warning.
When the lights go out, so do we. Our crews work around the clock in difficult and often dangerous circumstances to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. If the damage is severe enough, it could take hours or days to resolve the issue. Electricity must be restored in a specific order from the transmission line down to the individual residence.
Before an Outage: Plan ahead and make sure your emergency kit is stocked with flashlights, batteries, a 2–3 day supply of water and canned or packaged food, a first aid kit, blankets, and a car charger for your mobile device. Being prepared is the key to being comfortable during an outage.
During an Outage: Keep refrigerators and freezers closed. Turn off or disconnect major appliances, equipment, and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges. Only use generators outdoors and away from windows.
