Dear Salem Electric Members,

June 1, 2020

In May Governor Brown approved applications for Marion and Polk counties to enter into Phase 1 of reopening, easing restrictions for in-person gatherings, gyms and fitness centers, restaurants, and salons. As the State of Oregon slowly begins the process to re-open, we continue to follow the advice from the Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and our local government to protect one another from contracting and spreading the COVID-19 virus.

The safety and health of our employees and members remains our top priority. When appropriate we will re-open the lobby to the public, however at this time a date has not been determined. We are here to serve the co-op members and remain available by phone and email Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We understand the impact the pandemic has had on our community and have created a COVID-19 assistance program to help residential and business members with a one-time bill credit. Although disconnection procedures for non-payment and late fees were temporarily suspended because of the pandemic, standard delinquent procedures will resume in July. It is crucial members understand the suspension of disconnects was not a waiver of electric bills, and outstanding balances are still due. If you or someone you know may benefit from a bill credit, I encourage you to call our office at 503-362-3601 or visit SalemElectric.com.

We will continue to keep members updated of any changes through Facebook and our website, SalemElectric.com.

Thank you for your understanding and stay safe,

Tony Schacher, General Manager
