Dear Salem Electric Members,

June 1, 2020

In May Governor Brown approved applications for Marion and Polk counties to enter into Phase 1 of reopening, easing restrictions for in-person gatherings, gyms and fitness centers, restaurants, and salons. As the State of Oregon slowly begins the process to re-open, we continue to follow the advice from the Centers for Disease Control, World Health Organization, and our local government to protect one another from contracting and spreading the COVID-19 virus.

The safety and health of our employees and members remains our top priority. When appropriate we will re-open the lobby to the public, however at this time a date has not been determined. We are here to serve the co-op members and remain available by phone and email Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

We understand the impact the pandemic has had on our community and have created a COVID-19 assistance program to help residential and business members with a one-time bill credit. Although disconnection procedures for non-payment and late fees were temporarily suspended because of the pandemic, standard delinquent procedures will resume in July. It is crucial members understand the suspension of disconnects was not a waiver of electric bills, and outstanding balances are still due. If you or someone you know may benefit from a bill credit, I encourage you to call our office at 503-362-3601 or visit

We will continue to keep members updated of any changes through Facebook and our website,

Thank you for your understanding and stay safe,

Tony Schacher, General Manager
