Capital Credits: The Board voted to forfeit unclaimed capital credits to the co-op, totaling approximately $255,000.
Cybersecurity: The Board approved support of participation in the National Rural Electric Cooperative Cybersecurity Capabilities (RC3) Program affirming the co-op’s commitment to safety and data security.
Policy Review: The Board approved board policy recommendations for Board Donations, Directors Electronic Equipment, and Leadership Youth policies.
Community Involvement: Staff participated in the Keizer Holiday Lights Parade on December 14 and Salem Electric received an award from the Keizer Chamber of commerce for the Best Use of Lights.
27th No Outage Month: November 2019 was Salem Electric’s 27th month in our 78-year history with no preventable outages, and the 9th month with no preventable or external outages.
NRECA International: The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), the Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association (ORECA), and electric cooperatives across Oregon are teaming up to sponsor a project in 2020 to electrify a village in Guatemala. A 12-person crew will electrify 60 residences and community buildings in Guatemala while training their Guatemalan counterparts to operate and maintain their power systems.
